Join us as we travel across Australia to introduce you to our wonderful team.
This week we're in Sydney with Kira Osborne, who recently joined our Board.

What would you share about Nepal with someone who hasn't been?
It’s not “just like India” – people often ask this and I passionately respond with a rant about how different the countries are. Nepal is slower and softer, it has a sense of calm even amongst the chaos.
What is your day job?
Haha which one!!?? I work as a senior policy advisor in child protection and violence, abuse and neglect for the Ministry of Health. I also convene the Masters of Community Development at UNSW, and I work freelance as a research consultant with marginalised communities in informal settlements in South Asia.

How do you balance volunteering/work/ life? Any tips?
I commit to working/volunteering in areas I am passionate about – it makes the workload feel a lot less heavy! I make an effort to see my volunteering as equally important as my employment and try to set aside a set time to commit to it.
As you know at Project Didi, we’re all about empowering women to bring about positive change! Which women do you look up to and why?
I am so blessed to be surrounded by strong, compassionate, and curious women. My close group of female friends inspire and amaze me with their passion for social justice , and while we all approach it in different ways I am left feeling humbled and hopeful that we are all contributing to a better more just world.
Do you have any dreams for Project Didi and our work in Nepal?
I hope that Project Didi can contribute to stronger futures for women and girls in Nepal. I wish for it to be sustainable, ethical and determined by the people who know and have experienced the realities, the women and girls themselves.
What is the best book you've read so far this year?
I’m currently reading ‘Invisible Women – exposing the data bias in a world designed for me’ by Caroline Criado Perez. It’s fabulous but equally absurd to think that in 2019 we still see men as the primary and women as an appendage.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
Hmm soo many contenders! I really want to live on a rural farm in Italy and just grow veggies and cook all day! And I’d love to swim with the whale sharks in WA. And see the northern lights. And go walking in Patagonia. And……ahahah I’ll leave it at that!!
