Your Impact

We focus on having a deep, rather than a wide impact.
Project Didi Australia’s mission is to collaborate with our partner organisation Asha Nepal to reintegrate women and girls affected by trafficking and abuse to be full participants of their communities, through individualised holistic care and education.

We focus on having a deep, rather than a wide, impact on family, community and future generations.
Achievements:  Project Didi was able to increase support from one Family Based Care home to two.

This meant that holistic care was provided to 16 survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence, through Family Based Care, counselling, healthcare, education and pathways to employment.

Impact: Trauma based care through the Family Based Care method is preferable to institutional care.  Those raised in institutions are ten time more likely to fall into sex work, forty times more likely to have a criminal record and 500 times more likely to take their own lives.

Achievements: Six children graduated from Grade 12 and 3 children from Grade 10.

Impact:  A girl with an education has a decreased risk of domestic violence, great decision-making power and is more likely to educate her own children. Girls who have access to secondary education can expect to earn twice as much as someone with no education.  Decreasing poverty reduces the risk of trafficking. Women and girls who gain a secondary education benefit the economy of the country they live in. Over the past 50 years, women and girls' increased education attainment in OECD countries has accounted for 50% of economic growth.

Achievements: 18 children were provided with tablets to study remotely.

Impact:  Previously all the children were sharing 4 laptops and travel was required to access them during the height of the pandemic.  They were unable to speak with their teachers directly.  Now all the children could attend school virtually.  The children’s wellbeing improved and housemothers, who were previously trying to home school were less stressed

Achievements: Six children were reintegrated with their biological families.

Impact: A child that grows up in a safe family has stronger health, wellbeing and resilience, and has greater opportunity to make informed decsions about their future

Achievements: After 8 months of campaigning, 10 virtual tea parties and over 200 emails to T2 and its parent company Unilever, your voices have had impact.  Unilever has committed to ensuring  that everyone who directly provides goods and services to the company earns at least a living wage or income by 2030.

Impact:  with over 60,000 suppliers in over 160 countries the impact of this commitment for tea plantation workers and their families could be wide reaching.
