SAMUNNAT NEPAL
Samunnat Nepal is a grassroots NGO based in Birtamod, Jhapa, approximately 500km east of Kathmandu. A group of friends and colleagues started Samunnat Nepal in 2006 to empower women who have endured any type of violence. They believe that women need a sustainable source of income to reduce their vulnerability to violence and exploitation and if they are to have independence and greater control in their lives. Samunnat Nepal is a place where the women meet with each other, support one another and learn from shared experiences. Samunnat Nepal receives no government funding and the bulk of our budget to help women comes from the sales of their polymer jewellery. They work hard to make sure that Samunnat Nepal is an organisation of compassion, clarity, collaboration, consultation and clear, open communication. |
