YOUTH 2 YOUTH PROGRAMS

All in all, our trip to Nepal is one that will not be forgotten.
As a group, we all formed close friendships and share wonderful memories of our time in Nepal. Students took home a more cultured perspective of life, with a greater appreciation for the simpler things that are often taken for granted. We are all more grateful to be fully educated and for the opportunities that we have as women to dictate our careers. As young adults, we often forget how privileged we are to have social freedom and access to bountiful resources. All the St Cath's girls will remember the important lessons we learnt on our cherished trip to Nepal.

2016 Youth to Youth Program
The Youth 2 Youth Program involves 5 days of service learning in Kathmandu and provides Australian school students with the opportunity to positively contribute to the development of Nepali girls, of a similar age, who have been exposed to sex trafficking or abuse.

The Program contributes to rebuilding the Nepali girls’ capacity for learning, confidence and self-development through games, small group exercises and craft activities, led by the Australian students, in a playful, supportive environment.

We aim to be a catalyst of positive impact and good practice in the design, delivery and evaluation of our Youth2 Youth Programs.

Wondering why we don't have any photos of our Youth 2 Youth Program participants here?
It's all part of our commitment to child protection. We believe that when you are a child, your identity shouldn't be used to sell anything: products, programs or ideas.
Read more about our approach
The Youth 2 Youth Program facilitates a learning, rather than a tourist, mindset.
It is partner driven, with the topic of each Program determined by our partner in Nepal. We also acknowledge that our partner’s critical need is funding. As such, the Program has a $350 participation fee per student, which goes directly to our partner.

It is a long term commitment. To build a strong relationship with our Nepali partner, we encourage the Australian school to commit to the Program for at least 3 years.

It is child-centred and reciprocal, based on peer-to-peer learning between the Australian students and Nepali girls. The safety and wellbeing of all participants is central and we ensure we work in line with our Safeguarding Policy and Volunteer Code of Behaviour.
