Wednesday 3 March
Arrive in Kathmandu
Thursday 4 March
Kathmandu
Spend the morning recovering from jetlag in the peaceful garden of our hotel, a former house of the Nepali royal family, followed by an afternoon at the UNESCO World Heritage listed Durbar Square, the heart of the old city. In the evening get to know your fellow travellers over a delicious Tibetan hotpot at our welcome dinner.
Friday 5 March
Phakding (2,610m)
We're up before the sun rises to take the spectacular flight, with views of the Himalayas, to Lukla, the start of our trek. On our first day you'll notice the altitude, you might need to walk slower than you normally would on our climb through Sherpa villages to our first teahouse set above the roaring milk-white Dudh Koshi River.
Saturday 6 March
Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Today's trek takes us to Namche Bazaar, the traditional trading centre for the Sherpa people who migrated from Tibet many centuries ago. This is the most challenging day of the trek. We'll walk for 5 to 7 hours, with most of the day a steep climb up to Namche Bazaar. We'll be rewarded with views of Lhotse, the 4th highest mountain in the world, and the impressive Everest.
Sunday 7 March
Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Today we start early with a short climb above Namche Bazaar to watch the sunrise over Everest, reaching our highest point of the trek. We'll spend today and the next exploring Namche Bazaar or taking a day walk to a neighbouring village.
Monday 8 March
Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Namche Bazaar is set into the side of the mountains, surrounded by the majestic snow-capped Himalayas, an amphitheater of teahouses and little shops selling everything from trekking gear to yak bells. As the first rest stop for trekkers and climbers making their way to Everest, it is always humming with the start of adventures and stories of great expeditions. Today we'll explore the town, visit its Buddhist Monastery or let our trekking legs rest, sit and watch the mountains with a cup of tea.
Tuesday 9 March

Phakding (2,610m)
Today we descend steeply, taking in our last view of Everest, through forests of juniper, rhododendron and fir to the beautiful riverside village of Phakding.
Wednesday 10 March
Lukla (2,860m)
Our last day trekking! Arrive in Lukla in time for a coffee and a chance to explore the town. Tonight we'll celebrate our trek, with a small party to thank our trekking crew!
Thursday 11 March
Kathmandu
In the morning, we take a flight to the small town of Ramechhap. From there we will take a private bus back to Kathmandu (approximately 5-6 hours). We will then have the evening to relax and unpack in Kathmandu - and enjoy a celebratory drink!
Friday 12 March - Sunday 14 March
Kathmandu

Over the next 3 days learn you'll
meet with artisans, changemakers and entrepreneurs working for brighter futures for women and girls,

see your impact in action with a visit to our local partner, where we'll prepare our own Nepali feast with the mothers of our family based care homes for survivors of trafficking and abuse,
visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Bouddhanath, one of the holiest Buddhist sites,
explore the vibrant Asan Tol markets,
and much more!

FAQs
Q. When do I need to book by?
A. As soon as possible, as we have a limited number of places.

Q. How big will the group be?
A. Our group will be between 10 -14 fabulous women plus an Australian female guide.

Q. Will I meet the group before the trip?
A. We hope so, it will depend on where our travellers live. We will connect you with other trip participants in your area and plan a group get together if we have enough participants in one area.

Q. Do I have to book my own international flights?
A. Yes, we have excluded international flights from the trip so that you may choose your preferred airline or plan in a stopover if you wish. We are happy to provide a number of airline options that have arrival and departure times that work with our itinerary.

Q. How fit do I need to be for the trek?
A. Our trek is the start of the famous Everest Base Camp route. We'll be trekking for 4-5 days, up to 7 hours a day, reaching altitudes of over 3,000m. The average day will be around 5 hours of trekking in varied terrain, include steep climbs and descents with some sections of uneven, loose rocky ground.
Trekking at altitude can change your pace and you may experience headaches and feel like you are exerting more than usual. We move slowly and factor in lots of time for acclimatisation. All our past participants say that the rewards are worth it - your spectacular surrounds, the comradery of trekking and the sense of personal achievement. However, you do need to have a good level of fitness to complete this trek. We understand it is hard to determine by reading the itinerary if the trek is right for you. If you are unsure or would like to talk more about what's involved, please send us an email at projectdidiaustralia@gmail.com. If you are worried about any pre-existing condition or injury, or unsure of your physical ability, you must seek medical advice prior to booking.

Q. Will I need to carry my bag while trekking?
A. Just a small day pack with your camera, drink bottle, some snacks and a jumper. Your main luggage will be transported for you.

Q. Will someone meet me at the airport?
A. Your Australian guide or your Nepali guide will meet your flight at Kathmandu airport. Airport transfers are included.

Q.  Will I receive information on what to pack and how to prepare?
A. Absolutely! You will receive a detailed pre-departure pack well before our departure date.

Q. Where will we stay?
A. In Kathmandu, we’ll stay in one of the city’s landmark hotels, a converted Rana dynasty mansion with a peaceful courtyard garden - the perfect refuge from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu! We will be in Thamel, a vibrant area of Kathmandu with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. While trekking, we will stay in teahouses, which are comfortable but simple with basic facilities. Each room has a private toilet. You will be in twin share, unless you select the single supplement.

Q. Will dietary requirements be catered for?
A. The Nepali diet is based mostly on rice, vegetables, lentils and minimal meat - so vegetarians, gluten free and lactose intolerant are well catered for. In Kathmandu, you'll find plenty of non-Nepali options, including Italian, Mexican, Japanese + more! On the trek, we'll eat the staple trekking food - hearty, simple meals with vegetables grown in the local veggie patches, While less diverse, there are still a number of non-Nepali options available.

Q. Will we have some free time to explore?
A. Absolutely! While each day will include activities, we have ensured there is still time for exploring back alleys, reading with a cup of chai, and shopping up a storm.

Q. Will we be volunteering?
A. We promote locally driven, sustainable and skilled volunteering at Project Didi. 13 days is not enough time to understand a community's needs, develop strong relationships and make a lasting impact. Our trip does not include a volunteer component, but will be focused on connecting with and learning from those who understand their culture and community best - local women and champions of women!

Q. I have a 16 year old daughter, is the trip suitable for under 18 year olds?
A. We love the idea of fearless young women joining in, however, we appreciate there might be additional considerations for under 18s. Send us an email at projectdidiaustralia@gmail.com and we can chat about this further.
